WEEK 7

This week's lecture was about EndNote. The lecturer talked about what EndNote was, How to use it and why it was useful. EndNote is a database that is used to reference citations, references and bibliographies. The useful thing about using EngNote is that all your references can be kept together and can be tracked down if you ever need to use any of your references.
This week's workshop activities were to go to review the online referencing guide and include 5 different types of references. The second task was to go to blackboard and complete the "EndNote v11 Exercises for Vista" exercise. The third task was to open and save a copy of "Cite while you write EndNote Exercise". We then have to use the EndNote library that we have created to complete the tasks in Italics. We had to include a screen shot of the EndNote file and document.

There are many references that are used but some references are used more than other ones. These include Articles, Web Pages, Books, E-mails etc... The references that I chose are Magazine Article, Web Page, Books, Ebooks and Online Articles.

Magazine Article:
Jennings, P. (1995, January 14). The national front. The West Australian [The West Magazine], 8-12.

Web Page:
Technical specifications (iPhone). [n.d.] Retrieved November, 2007, from Apple: http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html

Books:
Moore, T. I. (1971). Social patterns in Australian literature. Sydney: Angus & Robertson.

Ebooks:
Wilkinson, R., & Marmot, M. (Eds.). (2003). Social determinants of health: The solid facts (2nd ed.). Retrieved December 2, 2007, from http://www.euro.who.int/document/e81384.pdf

Online Article:
Fredrickson, B. L. (2000, March 7). Cultivating positive emotions to optimise health and well-being. Prevention & Treatment, 3, Article 0001a. Retrieved November 20, 2000, from http://journals.apa.org/prevention/volume3/pre0030001a.html

The Cite while you write exercise was a bit confusing but I got it in the end. The confusing part was trying to insert the citations into the document but in the end it seemed simple because the way I was doing it before was wrong. I later found the right way to do it and therefore it was easy. The screen shots above show how well the creation of the EndNote was.
